The USDA has just released the new food icon to help you better understand healthy eating. The pyramid has been replaced with a plate!
The symbol is part of a healthy eating initiative that will convey seven key messages from the government's dietary guidelines some of which are:
1. enjoy food but eat less;
2. avoid oversized portions;
3. make half your plate fruits and veggies;
4. drink water instead of sugary drinks
